Description of Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft Authentication app is a great multifactor application for mobile devices. This app generates time-based code during the two-step verification process. It is an easy, convenient, and secure platform for two-factor authentication (2FA).

You do not need to use a password when logging in to your Microsoft account. You can login using your phone. All you have to do is enter your username, then approve the notification sent to your phone. Your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN These two steps will provide a second level of protection in the verification process. After signing in with Two Factor Authentication (2FA) you will be able to access all of your own Microsoft products and services such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office and more.

This Microsoft Authentication app will provide you with a second level of security after typing your password and will support Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) if you still use a password. When you enter your password when logging in with two factor authentication (2 FA) you will then be asked for additional ways to prove it.

You either need to approve the notification sent to Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the One Time Password (OTP) generated by the application. One-time passwords (OTP codes) have a 30 second timer counted. So you will never need to use the same time based One Time Password (TOTP) and you will not even have to remember the number.

You can add multiple accounts to your app, including non-Microsoft accounts, such as LinkedIn, Github, Amazon, Dropbox, Google, Facebook and more. Time-based One Time Password (TTP) allows you to secure all your online accounts.

Only enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on all your accounts. Then, when you provide your username and password as usual when you sign in, you will enter the One Time Password (OTP) provided by the Microsoft Authentication application.

Many times you may need to install Microsoft Authenticator to access your work or school specific files, emails or applications. You need to register your device with your organization through the application and add your work or school account. This Microsoft Authentication app supports certificate based authentication by issuing certificates to your device.

The sign-in request comes from any trusted device that lets you notify your company, and you can access each and every Microsoft application and service completely and securely without having to login. Microsoft Authenticator supports single sign-on, once you prove your identity you don't have to log in to other Microsoft apps on your device again.
