It is a news service application developed by Google, that presents a continuous flow of articles organized from thousands of publishers and magazines. It has its own unique ranking signals, which include user clicks, the authority of a publication in a particular topic, geography, and more.

Google News app is available on Android, iOS, and the Web.

Briefing

The initial view of the Google News application is Briefing. In Briefing, it picks up five stories to show you based on your interests and location. After the top results, it curates more stories it thinks you'll be interested in.

If you are not interested in any story Google News shows you, tap on the three-dot icon in the bottom-right corner of the story's thumbnail and choose 'Not interested in this story' to let Google know. You can also do the same process to let it know if you want more of a particular story topic.

Full Coverage

Google News application allows you to dive deeper into intriguing stories. There is a multicolored icon with Full Coverage written beside it. Tapping that you will find different categories, like top coverage, videos, From Twitter, Opinion, and All Coverage. The Full Coverage area is identical for every user and is free of any AI or machine learning.

Headlines

Unlike the Briefing, section Headline offers you various headlines without arranging it to your personal interests. The news is shown in various categories for you to scroll through horizontally. Some of them contain more than one story with a swipe to the left or right, while others are single stories.

Favorites

With the Favorite tab, you can help teach Google News what news you are interested in. To add interest to the app, tap on the "+" button.

Newsstand

In this section, various news outlets and publications are listed. Google News application provides you with the option to subscribe to the respective services. Both free and paid subscriptions are supported in the Newsstand section. You can also access more than 1,000 magazine titles in a mobile-optimized reading format in Newsstand.

• Data Saver Mode: This Android news app knows to pick when to save your mobile data. To save data Newscasts will switch from image briefs to text summaries. Also, videos and GIFs will not auto-play, and images will load in a compressed format when required.

• Auto-play Videos: Google News app gives you many Auto-play options. You can choose whether to play videos automatically always, never, or only on Wi-Fi.

• Temperature Units: You can choose your preferred temperature unit - Fahrenheit, Celsius, or Kelvin.

• Notification Settings: You can control what notifications and daily briefing emails you want to get.

• Open in YouTube Go: Videos within Google News will open up in YouTube Go, when appropriate.

• Control Your Web & App Activity: You can also control your in-app activities.
