F-Droid app is a free and open source archive of official applications that you can install on your Android. This is an installable catalogue of free and open source software applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install and follow updates on your device.

Although the number of apps available on F-Droid on Google Play is not that great, the selection is very good and provides a wide variety of tools.

F-Droid allows you to download multiple versions of an app. So you can avoid mismatched versions or those that have been proven to be inferior to their predecessors, something that often happens, but not in the case of Google Play apps.

How it works?

How the F-Droid application works is very easily. It includes three tabs: one for available applications, another for those already installed, and one last tab for unchanged updates.

After finding the app we are interested in, we will be able to install it on our Android phone or access its source code. We can also view the license and subsequent information for each application.

F-Droid will have all the open source applications available for your Android device.

Requirements

1. Minimum operating system: Android 4.0.
2. Requires activation of the unknown sources option in settings> applications to install the application via apk file.
